GAWVI

Beyond the electrifying production and transparent words, GAWVI hopes to motivate his fans to chase after their God-given potential and refuse to let anyone stand in their way.
Biography

For GAWVI, self-discovery isn’t just important for creative breakthrough — it’s essential. Tracking the styles and soundscapes from the emerging artist’s lengthy career reveals the evolution of a man increasingly comfortable in his own skin, confident in his creative vision, and centered on becoming the creator he was created to be.

GAWVI has spent over a decade conceiving chart-topping hits, racking up unassailable production credits with some of hip hop and pop music’s indisputable luminaries. His innovative production has brought home a DOVE Award four times and his music has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. GAWVI’s first LP with Reach, We Belong, showed off his talent for traversing between genres to develop a style entirely his own. The fans immediately vibed with his record, vaulting it to #7 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Top Christian Album charts.

Panorama builds upon the distinctive feel of We Belong, delving deeper into GAWVI’s sense of creative freedom and furthering his ambitions towards a seamless, “no skips” experience. He credits fans who attend his live show with playing a vital role in shaping this record. GAWVI perfected his approach for Panorama by placing close attention to how his live crowds react to sounds and melodies he experimented with during his concerts. As the crowd got hype, the record got created.

Not only does Panorama showcase GAWVI’s distinctive rhythms and melodic approach — it’s further proof that he’s got an equally satisfying message to match his eclectic style.“Get Em,” one of the most potent of GAWVI’s collection of hype tracks (and a sly callback to his iconic production tag) is a call to action for his fans and listeners alike to stand up for what they believe in — no matter the cost. The narrative thread of battling life’s greatest challenges extends through “SLINGSHOT,” an anthemic battle-cry laced with a spirit-elevating trap instrumental. Lecrae joins the battle on “Fight For Me,” a contemplative, personal ballad featuring both wordsmiths reflecting on the value of real relationships.

Progressing through Panorama reveals how GAWVI’s Christian faith animates his music by anchoring his confidence in God’s acceptance over the approval of others. “Fashion Joe” asks listeners to trust God above all else through illustrating the Biblical story of Joseph.  Meanwhile, “With You,” perhaps his most personal track on Panorama, pivots away from guidance and towards confession.

“I wrote this song because I want everyone to know that I am human too,” GAWVI remarks about its raw, naked honesty. “Last year on tour, my childhood best friend passed away, and I couldn’t make it to his funeral. During that same month, I was dealing with depression. A lot of problems were coming out in my marriage and I feared divorcing just like my parents. I wanted people to feel the emotions I had and let them know that I’m going through things too.  I didn’t want to give away any answers, I just wanted to cry with you and be there with you.”

Beyond the electrifying production and transparent words, GAWVI hopes to motivate his fans to chase after their God-given potential and refuse to let anyone stand in their way.

But don’t worry — the beats still bang.
